"Still Life with Skull" by Paul Cezanne

Cezanne is often called "the father of modern painting". This painting features an example of "momento mori".

  1. I like this painting very much; I believe it has mystery and truth to it. The skull reminds us that death is inevitable no matter how fruitful our lives may seem. Also, I believe it shows the reality of hunger; the fruit is for the rich, while the poor go hungry and die....Eman Ogab

    1. Absolutely. I feel the skull is especially eerie because it is partially hidden from view and seems to be peering out at us. Creepy!
