I truly love this painting... I love the reflection on the kettle; this painting is a perfect composition. I think this painting shows how shape, color, and form are very important! This painting is surreal and beautiful!
I just had to comment on this still-life because it truly is gorgeous! The funny thing is that what impresses me the most about this painting is not the hyper realism (as breathtaking as it is), but the theatricality of it all. Despite this being a painting of inanimate objects, you can't help but feel as though these objects will spring to life at any moment in order to put on a performance.
I don't know about you, but the idea of inanimate objects suddenly springing to life is so hilarious to me. Especially when it seems like the kettle is plotting something evil against the fruit and that there is a tragic love triangle going on between the apple, the pear, and the lemon. (The lemon, by the way, longs to be with the pear but can't because they aren't on the same plate. Poor lemon. It can't help that it tastes sour compared to the rest.)
In any case, I'm so glad this painting was posted on this blog! Thanks for posting!
